Porsche of the Week - 26th April 2024

Porsche of the Week - 2 min read

Welcome back to our Porsche of the Week series, we hope you're enjoying our weekly deep dive into some of best, and most unique Porsche's from the brands history. This weeks example is a real one-of-a-kind car that we're sure every Porsche fan will love!

The car in question is this 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo finished with a stunning Yellow colour scheme that is really unique and properly eye catching. It has to be said that seeing any variation of 944 on the road is becoming an increasingly rare sight in 2024, however I'm not sure I can remember ever seeing a 944 Turbo in yellow. I'm normally of the opinion that, when it comes to 944's, Guards Red is king, however this yellow 944 Turbo is a truly gorgeous car, perhaps more so than a Guards Red example.

The car has a very respectable 72,500 miles on the clock, which given that it is now over 35 years old, is certainly nothing to turn your nose up at. The car also has a complete service history, albeit not full Porsche service history, but with a car this age, that's understandable.

Another pretty cool fact about this car, is that it was featured on the cover of the December 2018 edition of Modern Classics Magazine, standing out as the feature car in a piece about the best 1980's cars under 20k. The magazine cover features a Ford Escort Cosworth and a Peugeot 205 GTI giving way to the star of the show, this yellow 944 Turbo!

Whilst I do love pretty much everything about this vibrant 944, we should talk about the alloys. They're not original, and while we're normally not fans of modifying Porsche's, particularly classic ones like this, with that said even I have to admit that they do look fantastic, and the Turbo Twist's might be even better than the originals. We'll let you decide on that one!

The interior is what you would expect, and all the usual 944 interior quirks apply as usual. The tan leather all seems to be in great condition for its age, again reiterating that this car is closing in on its 40th birthday! We think there are certainly better interior options available for this time period, but it's certainly not the worst 1980's Porsche interior we've seen! As I'm sure you know, some of them are, lets just say... different!

The car is currently up for sale on Car & Classic for £27,990, which admittedly is on the upper end of the 944 Turbo price range, however I'd say you're getting a pretty unique car in return. There's no doubt that 944 prices, and in particular 944 Turbo prices, are on the rise, and given that relatively low-mileage, well looked after example are tough to come by, I don't think that's a bad asking price.

We'll certainly be keeping an eye on this car, and hope that a potential buyer loves it as much as we do!

Once again, thank you for checking in for another Porsche of the Week from here at Werk One Originals. Be sure to head back every Friday for another Porsche of the Week. Until then, have a great week Porsche Fanatics!
