Porsche of the Week series - 3 minute read.
Welcome back to the series, and quite unbelievably, we're now in April! Where is the time going? This week we're taking a look at a Porsche that is, and will continue to be, one of the absolute rarest cars ever produced by the Stuttgart Sports Car brand!
Produced in 2023, in collaboration with Tag Heuer, the GT4RS Panamerica Special is a variation of the 718 GT4RS built to commemorate the 'La Carrera Panamerica' race in Mexico. Porsche first entered the gruelling race in 1952, and won the race the following year with the Porsche 550, which is the car the new GT4RS Panamerica Special lives to pay homage to. Just two of these GT4RS variants were ever produced, one featuring the race winning number 152, and the other featuring the number 154, which was the number the second Porsche 550 ran in the 1953 race, the year that Porsche won it!

The bodywork remains the same as a normal GT4RS, but features a beautiful Silver and Yellow colour scheme, with 'Tag Heuer' and 'Mobil 1 Oils' logos completing what is a truly stunning livery.

On the interior, the two GT4RS models are fitted with guards red bucket seats, which contrast nicely with the mostly black interior panels. Tricoloured, red, white and green stitching can be seen throughout the center console, paying homage to the Mexican flag, the country where the original races took place. 'La Carrera Panamerica' is also embossed on the headrests of the seats, and finely engraved on the door entry guards. It's all about the small details!

However, the highlight of the interior has got to be the two giant Tag Heuer dials in place of the radio. One of the faces is a lap timer, and the other is a three hand clock. Both pieces were specially designed by Tag for these vehicles.
These two extremely special cars, were designed as part of Porsche's ‘Sonderwunsch’ (Special Request) program. Given that only two of them were produced, they're destined to be sold for an absolute fortune. Car number 152 is set to go up for auction in early 2024, with proceeds expected to go to charity, however the benefactors of the money raised has yet to be announced.
